This is a AIR FORCE INST OF TECH WRIGHT-PATTERSONAFB OH report procured by the Pentagon and made available for public release. It has been reproduced in the best form available to the Pentagon. It is not spiral-bound, but rather assembled with Velobinding in a soft, white linen cover. The Storming Media report number is A402653. The abstract provided by the Pentagon follows: Remote sensing methodology and GIS technology provide the resources needed to gain an improved understanding of the Earth as a system. Worldwide population growth and development amplify the naturally occurring changes on the Earth's surface and give birth to new types of changes. With the help of remote sensing technology, the energy radiated by surface features or reflected off the Earth's surface by the sun can be used to map the land and trace the changes that take place over time. GIS technology can then be used to integrate large amounts of image data and other related details about an area to analyze the changes and their origin. This paper discusses the methodology and analytical techniques used to process digital images with a focus on change detection processes. It also emphasizes many of the atmospheric affects that must be considered before analysis can begin or inferences can be made. In addition, a change detection analysis of a region of Fountain Creek in Colorado Springs is performed using LANDSAT TM images gathered in 1993, 1994, and 1997. The analysis provides an example of the application of many of the techniques initially discussed and also highlights the cautions that were taken to avoid false conclusions. The investigation includes the generation of change detection images produced using image algebra and change vector analysis.
SECRET BUNKER #3 - 'The ROC HQ' (Fife,Scotland)
This is a recreation of the ROC (Royal Observation Corps) headquarters at Scotland's secret bunker. This is the actual equipment used in the Dundee equivalent which was donated to the secret bunker museum.
The ROC is now defunct but when they were operational this is where the reports regarding the location of the detonated A-Bombs plus the power and pressure of the weapon, were relayed.
This information was then used when it came to making decisions such as the evacuation of civilians, the co-ordination of resources such as food and medicine and, of course. how to retaliate!
PROCESSING NOTE : Since I had no tripod I was forced into doing my HDR's handheld which of course is not always convenient, especially since I was in a place that was dimly lit. To counter this I left my ISO up a bit higher to increase the shutter speed and decrease the chance of camera shake with the longer exposures. Of course the downside to this is background noise which was, in this case, a necessary evil.
Day 072 : Lettuce HDR
Today's picture is more of an exercise in HDR photography and shallow DOF.
